Hyperspermia is a condition in which a man produces a larger than normal volume of semen. Semen is the fluid a man ejaculates during orgasm. It contains sperm, along with fluid from the prostate gland. This condition is the opposite of hypospermia, which is when a man produces less semen than usual.

Normal Sperm Count: Understanding Your Semen Analysis

The aim of the study was to assess the effect of four repeated ejaculations on the same day at two-hour intervals on conventional and functional semen parameters. Furthermore, intracellular reactive oxygen ROS production, sperm DNA fragmentation and mitochondrial function were evaluated by flow cytometry. An overall decreasing trend was noted in the conventional semen parameters at second, third and fourth evaluations after two hours of abstinence in comparison to first evaluation after 3—4 days of abstinence. The findings of the present study indicate the potential use of additional semen samples with repeated ejaculations at short abstinence times in assisted reproduction procedures particularly from severe oligospermic men.

An abnormal sperm count may also indicate an underlying health condition. A normal sperm count ranges from 15 million sperm to more than million sperm per milliliter mL of semen. Anything less than 15 million sperm per milliliter, or 39 million sperm per ejaculate, is considered low. A low sperm count is often referred to as oligospermia. A high, or above average, sperm count is over million sperm per millimeter.
A semen analysis plural: semen analyses , also called seminogram , or spermiogram [1] [2] evaluates certain characteristics of a male's semen and the sperm contained therein. It is done to help evaluate male fertility , whether for those seeking pregnancy or verifying the success of vasectomy. Depending on the measurement method, just a few characteristics may be evaluated such as with a home kit or many characteristics may be evaluated generally by a diagnostic laboratory. Collection techniques and precise measurement method may influence results. Semen analysis is a complex test that should be performed in andrology laboratories by experienced technicians with quality control and validation of test systems.
