Things to Do in Bruges, Belgium with Kids

While Bruges has plenty of pubs to choose from, the city's woeful lack of clubs makes for a pretty tame night out, so don't go packing your dancing shoes. Most of the action takes place around the Old Town, where a gamut of traditional-style bars sell heroic selections of beer. If you want to hang out with the hip crowd, then head to the haunts around Kuipersstraat and Zilverstraat. Once you get past the gloom and the slight whiff of damp hanging in the air, this atmospheric spot is perfect place to spend a few hours — especially as you make your way through its beers. One of the best bars in Bruges, De Garre is tucked away down the narrowest street in the city.

5 Things to do in Bruges

Base yourself in the picture perfect Old Town, surrounded by romantic canals and medieval walls. The Markt Square is located roughly in the centre of the old town. On Wednesday mornings you will find a market held in the square. And throughout the year the square hosts other events like opera, plays and celebrations.
One of my absolute favorite cities from our travels was Bruges, Belgium. When researching the city, you will find the name listed as either Bruges or Brugge. Bruges being from the English and French variation and Brugge being Dutch. There are three official languages in Belgium: Dutch, French and German. I was fascinated to learn that all these languages are taught in public school.
